Walk short stages? Thoughts on why short stages can be good on the Camino de Santiago
Переглядів 32211 місяців тому
You do you, long or short days, but have no guilt about walking short stages! Whether you want to arrive early so that your clothes have time to dry, you have errands to run like getting to a bank or store, or you just want to take more breaks, a short stage (or many of them) could be your answer.
I loved my parasol / sun umbrella on the Camino Francés!

Worth the weight 6.8oz/193g! My Silver Shadow Mini Hiking Umbrella by Six Moons did great for me on my 35-day walk from SJPP to Santiago. Great for sun, and handy for rain, too. ;-)

Having just viewed this my first video of yours I compliment you on it. Also, I inquire of you “could it be some homage to name the title character Emily who adored gardening/flowers”? Although she was not southern nor was she exactly like the character of his Emily she was very much a reclusive woman.

Nice job on a great poem. I believe the word she was searching for was forsaken. The poem is about being forsaken by god and a beloved. Frost uses religious symbolism. “I have walked out in rain and back in rain.” The beloved has sent him out into the night and is not calling him back, has not changed her mind, she is resolute, won’t even say goodbye.

I think that landscape is so important in the formulation of poetry. Dylan Thomas was born and lived his life close to the sea. He knew cliffs, steep drops to the sea. 'That sad height'. I know the landscape of it.

You can overthink sometimes. The purpose of a poet is to touch the mystic, and then to take them with you. They need certain strategies, musicians require cords.

  • @timbowyer337

Otherwise, great analysis! Poets are so often tied to national identities. Which is a good thing; it shows how much we value them. For example, the unofficial anthem , the more popular anthem for my country of England is 'Jerusalem'. It is not 'God save the King'. Jerusalem is a poem by William Blake set to music.

5:34 - this is excellent. I've realized that both men and women can actually have both journeys. Both male and female are related to "survival" and "reproduction" - the two most prominent drivers of all human activity
